Dear Friend,
I would like to share with you some of the recent and upcoming activities of Southern Springs Holistic Learning Center. Our mission is "to enrich the lives of people of all backgrounds by providing experiential learning opportunities in the areas of the creative arts, self-development, and healthy living." Here is what we've been up to:
- Now in our third year, we are fortunate to have a growing number of enthusiastic volunteers, a capable and committed board of directors, and an exciting program scheduled in the upcoming months.
- The workshops we have sponsored in the past two years have drawn people from throughout Florida and from Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
- In January, we hosted two major events: "An Evening with Deepak Chopra," attended by about 1,450 people from many walks of life; and two performances by the Tibetan Monks of Drepung Gomang Monastery, which also drew large and diverse audiences.
- We have planned our 3rd Annual Celebration Benefit for Saturday, May 12, featuring talented and inspiring workshop leaders from the Tallahassee area.
- We have been searching for land within a reasonable distance of Tallahassee on which to build a retreat center where people of many backgrounds can come share in their growth and learning. Many people in the community are excited about the prospect of having a center for holistic learning in the Tallahassee area. The retreat center will be an eco-village in which every structure is designed to be environmentally sound and to harmonize with the natural surroundings. We are interested in a 110-acre plot in the Monticello area in Jefferson County.
- We also want to establish an office, and possibly a workshop facility, in Tallahassee in order to be more accessible to the immediate community.
- We have started a fund-raising drive for land purchase, retreat center construction, and in-town space rental or purchase.
On behalf of Southern Springs, I invite you to join us and other Southern Springs supporters in raising the funds to build a retreat center and secure a space in town by making a financial contribution to our Land Acquisition Fund. Your contribution will go exclusively toward these purposes.
- A contribution form is available to complete and return with your check. A contribution of any amount will demonstrate your support of Southern Springs and move us closer to realizing our goals.
- If you are able to contribute $1,000 or more, you may choose to become a Charter Member, with commensurate benefits at $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 levels.
- Southern Springs is a nonprofit organization. Your contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
We would appreciate your help in establishing locations where we can better serve the local and regional communities. Whether or not you make a contribution at this time, we hope you are among the many who will participate in and benefit from Southern Springs workshops and events. The May 12 Celebration Benefit is a great opportunity to become acquainted or reacquainted with Southern Springs and with local practitioners. The registration fees for the benefit will also go toward building a retreat center and locating a space in town. Please join us for a day of learning, sharing, and fun.
If you would like more information about our Land Acquisition Fund, the May 12 Celebration Benefit, or Southern Springs in general, please call me at 850-878-8643.
Sincerely,
Marty Klein, President Southern Springs Holistic Learning Center
